When you hire a vehicle from us, you must be at least 23 years of age. We also request that you have held a full valid licence for a minimum of 2 years. It’s worth noting that we do have an upper age limit too and to hire a vehicle, you must be under 75 years of age.
What types of vehicles are available to hire?
We have a brilliant selection of vehicles to choose from when you turn to us for vehicle hire. Not only do we have economic cars and luxury cars available, but we also have a fleet of commercial vans as well. We pride ourselves on being able to cater to everyone’s needs and we regularly renew our fleets too, so you will have access to some of the latest models.
How long can you hire a vehicle for?
At Mayday Vehicle Rentals, our vehicle hire is incredibly flexible. All of our cars and vans are charged by the day and you can hire for a day, a week or even longer if required. We even offer long term vehicle hire to those who need a vehicle for over a month. Our long term programme is a minimum of 28 days and we understand that sometimes, you need a vehicle to travel for a few months or to temporarily replace your commercial vehicle.
Can you hire a vehicle with points on your licence?
Generally speaking, you will still be able to hire a vehicle with us if you have points on your licence, however, we recommend that you contact us before you book to confirm. There are certain endorsements/convictions that will prevent you from being able to hire a car or a van, and depending on your age, the number of points you have will be taken into account too.
Is insurance included in the hire cost?
At Mayday Vehicle Rentals, all of our prices include insurance for one named driver. If more than one person is going to be driving the car or van that you hire, we will be happy to arrange for them to also be insured at an additional daily cost. It is important to note that whilst the insurance is included in the hire cost, you will be responsible for paying the excess should you have an accident during the hire period.
What documentation do you need to hire a vehicle?
When you hire a vehicle with us, we will only need you to provide a couple of documents. We will need to see your driving licence and also a proof of address, this can be a utility bill or bank statement, for example. If you are travelling from overseas and hiring a vehicle, we will also need to see your passport and return flight details.
How quickly can you hire a car or van?
It is always recommended that you book your car hire or van hire as far in advance as possible. This will increase the chances of you being able to hire the particular vehicle you’re interested in.
